Harold Garde moved to Belfast, Maine in 1984 after a career of teaching and painting on Long Island, NY. His energy and artistic vigor have had an enourmous impact on the community of Maine artists. His paintings, monotypes and strappos are invariably intent on discovery and truth. Neither in the intense psychodrama of some paintings nor in the meditative simplicity of the still lives does Harold Garde make any concession to the prettiness, fashion, or the marketplace. He seeks the beautiful with an uncompromising vision of the personal and social necessity of art. Running Time: 26:53 minutes
