Alan Magee of Cushing, Maine is a modern master of realist painting. His paintings invite wonder at the inherent dignity and beauty of simple objects such as letters, tools, and stones that are imbued with a history of communication, labor, and time. They are haunted by the mystery of how basic elements like colors in a paint box can be re-configured into something profound. These works ask one to look and then look again.
